Heat a wok over high heat until very hot, and pour in the peanut oil. Add soy sauce, water and brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Stir cornstarch mixture and add to the pan. Most Mongolian beef recipes use flank steak.

  2. Take 40 g cornflour
  3. Prepare 2 tbsp oil

  5. Make ready 650 g rump steak thinly sliced (or lean frying steak)
  6. Prepare 2 cloves garlic chopped and minced
  7. Make ready 30 ml soy sauce
  8. Get 200 ml water
  9. Get 30 g honey
  10. Take 1/2 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
  11. Prepare 2 spring onions finely chopped
  12. Make ready Pinch salt and pepper
  13. Make ready Mixed Veg
  14. Make ready 1 red pepper -strips
  15. Prepare Mushroom - handful sliced
  16. Prepare 1 courgette -sticks (defluffed)
  17. Make ready 2 tsp water
  18. Make ready 1 tsp sunflower oil
  19. Take Noodles
  20. Make ready 400 g fresh egg noodles
  21. Take 1 tsp sunflower oil

Certainly, it should also be without too much fat, and no bone attached. You can use tenderloin or sirloin for the best result. The beef should still be quite moist after it has marinated. If it looks too dry, add a tablespoon of water to it.

Instructions to make Mongolian beef:
  1. Coat beef in cornflour and set aside
  2. Heat pan add garlic and ginger constantly stirring for 30 seconds (do not brown)
  3. Add beef and pinch of salt and pepper and fry until cooked through
  4. Add soy sauce, water, honey and chilli flakes and simmer for 5 to 10 mins
  5. Whilst beef simmering prepare veg if not already done
  6. Add 1tsp oil to pan and stir fry veg 4 minutes before end of beef simmering, add water if needed
  7. Add 1 tsp oil to seperate pan and stir fry noodles 2-4 mins stir constantly
  8. Once noodles and veg cooked add both to pan with beef
  9. Mix well and serve immediately with spring onion on top
