A slow, red-wine braised brisket is the perfect dinner for an indulgent night with minimal effort. Brisket is marinated in a red wine and vinegar blend then slow roasted in the oven until fork tender. I wanted to find a way to make beef brisket that wasn't a BBQ recipe but wasn't just plain beef either. This is what I came up with and my family LOVED it.

Instructions to make Red Wine Brisket:
  1. Rub down the brisket with the salt, pepper, thyme and rosemary
  2. In a large skillet on medium heat add olive oil and sear brisket on each side for 4 mins.
  3. Pull brisket out of skillet and put in a large casserole dish or 9 by 13 pan. Add onions to remaining olive oil in skillet and cook about 3 minutes.
  4. Add wine, beef broth and tomato sauce to onions and cook another 7 minutes.
  5. Pour mixture over brisket and toss in garlic.
  6. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour
  7. Baste brisket with juices and bake another 2 hours covered with foil. AND BAM!! you are gonna love this.

I wanted to find a way to make beef brisket that wasn't a BBQ recipe but wasn't just plain beef either. This is what I came up with and my family LOVED it. On the stove-top, place a skillet over medium-high heat, when the pan is hot, add enough cooking oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Brown the Brisket on both sides. Add the brisket to the slow cooker.
